John Tandberg is a Norweigian expat living and working with wood on the west side of Paris in Les Yvelines. He “retired” from his packaging design company to create his woodworking atelier in 2014. He has always had fond memories of his father’s own wood workshop and inspiration came one day when tasting the wine from Château Olivier, from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux and learning about the carefully chosen oak barrels in which the wine had been aged. Wood with history! Wine barrels would be his material!
I have been working a lot with French wine barrels, made rocking chairs, benches and picture frames, but also cutting old redwine bottles and making transfer of numeric images onto wood. Respect for the environment, recycling and bringing new life to old furniture by transforming function and adding milk paint for rejuvenation. — John
John’s been away from Norway for a long time, but wood remains in his heart, mind and hands. Enjoy his creations on his website.
John can also repairs wood, make custom items and is able to collect and deliver his jobs.
